Often words alone are powerful and expressive. Sometimes they are limiting and do not sufficiently convey an experience.
The Arts offer an alternative and powerful means of expression. Symbols and images reveal all aspects of ourselves – the body, mind and emotions. They allow us to circumvent thinking which often consists of negative beliefs that have formed us but in fact work against us.
Art Therapy offers sandtray, drawing and painting media, enactment and role play, dreamwork and bodywork. Feelings can become numbed and locked in the body, which holds on to the memories. Attending to your body and its needs enables feelings of being grounded, present and alive.
Artistic experience is not expected or required. Most important is meeting your individual needs for personal growth.
